I like what you say here being that my Mom had told me about something called the memorial which she drove on a bus to for like 2 days.
Anyway if i see her tomorrow on Turkey day i will use this. I am printing now so I don't mess it up...

Barbara Anderson is on NBC Nightly News Tonight 11/21/07
by AndersonsInfo ina producer with nbc in new york called within the past hour to tell me that the segment i interviewed for (once in nashville, tn in august and once in washington, dc in october) is set to air tonight on nbc nightly news with brian williams, that is, if no huge calamity takes place to bump the feature.
this piece will be two minutes and 45 seconds long, the longest slot nightly news has for topics of interest, and will feature a discussion about the court documents that are found on the cd i recently produced, "secrets of pedophilia in an american religion, jehovah's witnesses in crisis.
in addition, nbc's internet site, msn, will follow with a detailed story.

Hopefully this news story will help even more victims be brave enough to come forward and help expose this horrible crime that is being covered up! OK...so I just responded to another thread and felt it deserved its own. How many times as a JW did you stumble around when you were asked "Why don't you celebrate Thanksgiving??" I was trained to say, " We give thanks everyday, not just once a year". People would always look at me weird and say, "Yeah, we do to". Then I would always feel like crawling into a hole because I knew I wasn't giving any type of sound reasoning why I wasn't celebrating it. And YET......
Every Thanksgiving my whole JW family would get together with our none JW family and my JW grandmother would cook a huge Turkey with all the fixings and us JWs would not refer to it as Thanksgiving..but openly our non JW family would call it that. We knew we were celebrating it, and in private we would say among ourselves.."I don't see what is wrong with Thanksgiving"!!?? However, even though I would celebrate it I would act as if I wouldn't when asked by "wordly" people. What a HYPOCRITE I was!! ANYWAY.......now that I am out I realise that there is NOTING wrong with celebrating Thanksgiving! Its all about CONTROL!!! It is just another way they try to control your average JW to keep them in line and seperate from the "world"! For noe good reason!
OK..so how do you stop your JW family dead in their tracts?? Tell them this:
You ask your JW relative, " What is really wrong with celebrating Thanksgiving anyway??"
The JW will likey reply," We don't give thanks just one day a year, but we are thankful EVERYDAY" (sound familiar??)
You say, "Well we only celebrate Jesus death once a year, does that mean we aren't appreciative or "Thankful" the rest of the year??"
Likely you will then get a big BLANK LOOK from them!!
Then say, "If you use one reasoning for one, you have to apply the same reasoning to the other, they are both celebrations of Thanks!"
Anyhow... Just thought I would share!! Let me know what you think??

Jehovah's Witnesses Celebrates Thanksgiving
by Wordly Andre inevery year we (non-jw family) have thanksgiving at my grandma's house, all the jw family comes over on friday to eat left overs or take a plate home.
ok i think i've posted before on here about how thats a load of crap, it's still thanksgiving dinner no matter what.
i just heard that a family member who is the family jw nazi, is coming to my grandma's on thanksgiving day!!

Dear Wordly Andre,
I feel for you! Here is something you could throw out there at your JW family...."What is wrong with Thanksgiving??" (They will probably say, we give Thanks everyday..not just once a year..right?? )Then ask them this,"We only celebrate Jesus Memorial once a year, so does that mean that because we don't celebrate it everyday, does that mean we don't appreciate what he did for us everyday?" So how would celebrating Thanksgiving once a year be any different?? Of course we are thankful everyday, yet because we celebrate it once a year doesn't mean we don't the rest of the year! See what kind of responce you get?? I hope you still get your Turkey with all the fixings!
